Good morning and welcome back.
One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. That’s true on a holiday too. Here’s the quote:
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
-Michael Jordan
I need this one more than most. If you have ever been in my office when I came back after a bad day in court, you will know that I hate to lose. Hate it. HATE IT. So sometimes I don’t have the greatest perspective. And let’s face it: failing sucks.
But here’s the thing: sometimes you fail. Sometimes you can’t help but fail. Sometimes you fail through no fault of your own, and other times you fail because you missed the game winner.
So what are you gonna do about it? If you’re the greatest basketball player of all time, you go back out there and do this:
Yeah.
If you’re me, maybe you go back and research another case, or improve a motion, or practice that argument a bit more. Anything to take that failure and put it in the rear view mirror. Anything to make it less likely to happen again.
What about you? Will you let a failure derail your efforts? Or will you succeed because you fail, like His Airness?
Have a successful week everybody.
