Do What You Can

Good morning everyone,
I hope your weekend was terrific. Since it’s over now and we’re back to work, let’s see if one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Here’s the quote:
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
– Arthur Ashe
Okay, this is just stupid, you say. This says nothing. Start where you are sounds like one of the twelve steps, and do what you can sounds like a rule for kindergarteners.
But does it really say nothing?
Start where you are – how many times do we put off working on something because it doesn’t seem like the perfect time or place?
Use what you have – do you ever think, man this would be easier if only I had a (something)? I know I do.
Do what you can – this one is my favorite. Don’t expect to completely change the world on every project. Just accomplish the best possible result on each project. Don’t even expect to convince everyone all at once. Just win them all over slowly, one at a time.
Before you know it, there’s a whole list of accomplishments in your wake. Including, perhaps, saving the world! Or at least starting to.
Have a great week everybody.
